Sleep & Blood Pressure Correlation
How VitalSync detects when poor sleep is driving elevated blood pressure.
Sleep & Blood Pressure Correlation
VitalSync's Sleep-Cardiovascular Reciprocity model (based on Cappuccio et al., 2011) detects when poor sleep efficiency precedes elevated morning blood pressure.
The Pattern
When your sleep efficiency drops below 75% on a given night, VitalSync checks whether your morning systolic blood pressure is elevated (> your personal 7-day average) the following day.
If this pattern occurs 3 or more times, VitalSync generates a personalised insight with an Evidence Level rating.
What the Evidence Says
Cappuccio et al. (2011) — a meta-analysis of 13 studies — found that short sleep duration (< 6 hours) was associated with a 48% increased risk of developing hypertension.
What To Do
If VitalSync flags this correlation, focus on improving sleep consistency. See How to Improve Your Sleep Score for evidence-based strategies.
